What happened before Page 1?

The story you’re writing didn’t start on Page 1. Neither did your character.

Before the plot begins, your character already wants something. They’re carrying something. They believe something about themselves and the world around them.

And whether you’ve written it down or not, it’s influencing every choice they make on the page.

I call this the Invisible Space.

The problem might not be on the page.

Maybe your character isn’t landing.

The plot works, but something feels flat.

You know what needs to happen next, but you don’t believe your character would actually do it.

Or you just have that maddening feeling:

I know something isn’t working. I just don’t know what.

Sometimes the answer isn’t another plot point.

We need to figure out what happened before Page 1.

I help you find the story underneath the story.

This is one of the things I’m best at.

I attune to what’s underneath. I ask questions. I listen for the thing you may not realize you’re telling me.

Together, we uncover the invisible pieces driving your character and story:

What did they want before Page 1?
What are they carrying into this story?
Why does this particular person say YES to this particular plot?
What do they believe that makes their choices inevitable?
What needs to shift by the end?

Because when we understand why this story is happening to this person, the choices on the page start making a whole lot more sense.

Bring me the thing that’s keeping you stuck.

A character that isn’t landing.
A plot problem you can’t solve.
A creative decision you keep circling.
Or simply: “I know something isn’t working.”

For one hour, you get my full attention, storytelling instincts and problem-solving brain focused on exactly what you need.

You don’t need to diagnose the problem before you arrive.

That’s part of what I’m good at.
