Bonding with your dog is good for them, but it’s also good for you.
You transform together.
It’s all about the bonding.
You can spend thousands of dollars on conventional dog training and buy all the fancy equipment, but if you don’t have a healthy bond with your dog, then it probably won’t stick. I combine my dog training knowledge and experience with my coaching services to help you solve the issues going on in your home. But it starts with you. We will get into a mindset that supports a solid relationship with your dog first. Because improving the dynamic with a dog is as much about the story we’re telling ourselves and our beliefs and expectations, as it is about their behavior.
The magical thing about dogs is that no matter what the relationship looks like today, no matter how old your dog is, and regardless of where your dog came from, things can change. Dogs show us what is possible. Through systems, set ups, games, exercises, new habits and activities that I customize for you and your dog, your dog’s behavior will improve. And yours might too.

What is your connection made of?
1:1 Coaching
Tell me about your dog, which is almost always about so much more than your dog. As you share your feelings and thoughts, as you explain the problems and difficulties you’re facing, we will figure out the steps to take to reach your goals. This is personalized for YOU. But what I do is unique because I see your rescue dog as the way in —> into an important relationship, into what you need to learn, what you need to teach, what you need for your own growth, enhanced wellbeing, and higher potential.
When we work together, positive shifts will be made with your dog, but also with you, in you. I will help you find more balance, boundaries and bliss as a dog parent, dog rescuer, or simply as a dog lover. My job is to hear you and to find a way to support you and your dog as the connection between you blooms.
Got dogs and kids at home?!
For Double Moms And Double Dads
I specialize in building routines and structures tailored for your lifestyle, the kind filled with double duties (and doodies!) Unpacking the specific challenges you face as a family with dogs + kids is necessary in order to strategize a calm, consistent plan that works for you. This makes progress more doable and creates a sense of empowerment and enrichment that can have a huge impact on the vibe in your house. We will make sure your children are dog aware for their own safety, that everybody’s needs are getting met (including yours!) and that your family is coexisting harmoniously. It’s my privilege and pleasure as a Double Mom myself to focus on you and love you up.

When it comes to pet loss
Your Grief Matters
If your pet is aging, if you are preparing for the end of their life, or if you’ve already lost your baby (I am so sorry if you have), I understand. I really do. This relationship is special, it’s soul-level, it is sacred. As a certified, trauma informed Breathwork Facilitator and as a Creative Grief Guide, I am here to support you in processing the love and the loss, in your own timeline. You do not have to go through the anticipatory grief, the mourning, or the loneliness of grief alone. Your body, your breath, and your creativity are powerful tools that holds feelings, memories, and stories. They also hold the continued connection to your irreplaceable friend. I would be honored to hold space for you as you discover, feel, and access whatever you need most through this time.
For the rescue groups out there
Foster Parents Make The World Go Round
If you are a rescuer and could use some support for your fosters, whether on a case-by-case basis or more regularly, I help set foster homes up for success from the get go. From the big things to the small things, from creating potty schedules to implementing structure to shedding light on canine communication to handling a dog altercation, I can field phone calls and provide the coaching needed to work through issues. I host support group meetings for your rescue team to ask questions and connect with each other, facilitating a sense of community and in-it-togetherness while offering assistance with managing foster parents and the pets. As an avid dog foster mom myself, my goal is your goal: to keep homes happy and open so more animals can get saved.
“Katya is an earth-angel for pups and people alike. We adopted a traumatized Pit-mix and Katya helped give us tools to bond with her, healing her and ourselves. Her passion for these animals is unmatched and her tips build structure, trust, and a deep, life-changing love.”

Bonding with a dog is good for the animal and good for us. Along the way to achieving the behaviors we desire from a dog, we change our behaviors too, taking us right to the intersection between dog guardianship and personal growth.
This how-to-bond book, set against the backdrop of a true love story, explores what happens when we prioritize the relationship with our canines over the results we get from them. With a woven narrative that features various foster dogs as well as exercises to practice with your own dog, it positions dog adoption as both a selfish and a selfless act. Every dog has the capacity to help us be the best version of ourselves, day after day, and in bonding to improve the relationship with our pet, we end up strengthening the relationship we really want: the one with ourselves.
More About Me
I love dogs. I love dog people.
Am I a certified dog trainer? Yes, thanks for asking! I received my certification through The Companion Animal Sciences Institute and shadowed some incredible positive-reinforcement-based dog trainers in Los Angeles. I’m an official Family Paws Parent Educator and love working with families who have kids and dogs. I am passionate about children being dog aware, have been an on again-off again animal shelter volunteer since 2007, and have fostered over 70 dogs in my own home, making my kids do it with me! I’ve learned a lot as a dog trainer and volunteer, but I’ve learned the most from the dogs in my house, the ones whose energy I feel constantly and must mix into the recipe of my existence. I’ve been helping people with dogs for over a decade, being that one phone call they make for encouragement or guidance, cheerleading or calming off a ledge.
Over the last few years, I received my Certified Life Coach education, my certification as a trauma-informed Breathwork Facilitator, and my certification in Creative Grief coaching. I continue to expand my experience and knowledge through all sorts of programs based in science, psychology, spirituality, and matters of the heart. Supporting animals and the people who love them is my privilege and pleasure. In short: your dog deserves to feel good, and so do you. I believe you can feel good not only when you’re together, but because you’re together.
TRANSFORMED LIVES
Want a jolt of good feeling and love?
Get a free mini breathwork
I invite you to go somewhere quiet where you can focus on your breath. Invite your dog with you, and as you sit comfortably, notice your dog’s breathing, too. letting the up and down of their belly bring you into the present, landing your own body in the moment with them. Through breathwork, you can experience closeness and tenderness, reflect with a wider perspective on what you’re feeling, and become more aware of your capacity to play, explore, and listen. Ready to bond with your dog (and yourself) in a deep way?
